View Rights PortalSmith-Obolensky Media is an international media boutique featuring the work by award-winning author Ivan Obolensky. His gothic mystery, Eye of the Moon, sold over ten thousand copies and the sequel is well underway for release next year. The Latin American Spanish literary translation has been accepted into the Librería Nacional chain, the largest in Colombia, for a thousand paperbacks to be sold in their stores (including those in three international airports). We are magicmakers. How many of us have changed from a simple line we once read, or a film we saw at a crossroads moment? The art of storytelling, in all its facets, is something we celebrate. In this spirit, we accept projects on a limited basis and focus on one author at a time, so we can fully present their works.
View Rights PortalTo survive in today’s complex economies, it is imperative for companies to understand their consumers in terms of how and why they like to use their products. Distinction based on quality no longer provides competitive advantage. Imagineers use design methods to create meaningful experiences that connect consumers to brands, employees to companies and consumers to consumers. This book explains the background of the need for experiences and then focusses on how to design them. Bringing theory into practice for students of tourism marketing, event planning and business, it provides a window into the creative world of Imagineering.
Tumi Letsatsi is a 13-year old melanin kween living in Rondebosch, Cape Town. Her favourite colour is yellow, she's still trying to figure out how not to dent her afro on the bus, and how one goes about (ahem!) “french kissing”. She’s a little awkward and a lot uncertain about her future, friendships and how to put together a cool outfit! But then she stumbles across the magic of coding and creates an app called “Project Prep” that goes viral and rockets her and her friends to fame. Then everything starts to fall apart, as she deals with a catfish who befriends her and steals her code, nasty rumours at school and the newfound attention of a crush. The New Girl Code (by Niki Smit, locally edited by Buhle Ngaba) is about the wonders of working in tech, aimed at girls and young women aged 9-15. The project is an initiative of Inspiring Fifty and based on an idea by Janneke Niessen.

Despite the scholarship and political activism devoted to keeping the memory of the Paris Commune alive, there still remains much ignorance both in France and elsewhere, about the traumatic civil war of 1871; some 20,000 to 35,000 people were killed on the streets of Paris in just the final week of the conflict. Colette Wilson identifies a critical blind-spot in French studies and employs new critical approaches to neglected texts, marginalised aspects of the illustrated press, early photography and a selection of novels by Emile Zola. This book will be of interest to students and academics studying France in the nineteenth century from a number of different perspectives war and revolution studies, cultural studies, history and cultural memory, literature, art history, photography, the illustrated press, city studies and human geography. The book will appeal equally to all lovers of Paris who wish to know and understand more about the city's turbulent past. ;
