        by Lido Loschi

        Cambeva's workshop is the first of four books of the collection "Presente de Vô" in partnership with Grupo Ponto de Partida. The book is a mixture of colours and elements that highlight the memory of the world, in which seekers of memories have the mission of bringing light and life to objects found in the travels of two characters: Zalém and Calunga. Cambeva is a restorer who, when the world lost its embrace, tried to reinvent it; he is the grandfather who mends dreams, forgotten things and lost emotions, to whom the seekers ask for help to fix something. In a magical universe, full of children, grandchildren, stories and memories of his lineage of restorers, when faced with this request for restoration, he makes room to bring back an emblematic figure who can no longer sing. A story about memories, care and affection...

        Tourism Transformations in Protected Area Gateway Communities

        by Susan L Slocum, Peter Wiltshier, John Basil Read IV, Dorothee Bohn, Andrea Zita Botelho, Kelly S. Bricker, Robert S. Bristow, Karina H. Casimiro, Rosa Suárez Chaparro, Ana Cristina Costa, Kynda R. Curtis, Margaret J. Daniels, Edieser Dela Santa, C. Michael Hall, Manuel Ramón Gonzalez Herrera, Russell M. Hicks, Julie Judkins, N. Sleipness, Maria Anunciação Ventura, Therez B. Walker

        Gateway communities that neighbour parks and protected areas are impacted by tourism, while facing unique circumstances related to protected area management. Economic dependency remains a serious challenge for these communities, especially in a climate of neoliberalism, top-down policy environments, and park closures related to environmental degradation or government budgets. The collection of works in this edited book provide bottom-up, informed, and nuanced approaches to tourism management using local experiences from gateway communities and protected areas management emerging from a decade of guidelines, rulemaking, and exclusive decision-making. Global perspectives are presented and contextualized at the local level of gateway communities in an attempt to balance nature, community, and commerce, while supporting the triple bottom line of sustainable tourism. While anticipating a post-COVID 19 global shift, readers are encouraged to think through transformation and resiliency in regard to how the flux of supply vs demand alters gateway community perspectives on tourism. Specific features of this book include: · Focus on transformations, which provides insight into the complex and dynamic nature of gateway communities. · Multidisciplinary, multi-cultural insights into protected area management. · Applied and conceptual chapters from global perspectives.

        Walking in the dark

        James Baldwin, my father and I

        by Douglas Field

        A moving exploration of the life and work of the celebrated American writer, blending biography and memoir with literary criticism. Since James Baldwin's death in 1987, his writing - including The Fire Next Time, one of the manifestoes of the Civil Rights Movement, and Giovanni's Room, a pioneering work of gay fiction - has only grown in relevance. Douglas Field was introduced to Baldwin's essays and novels by his father, who witnessed the writer's debate with William F. Buckley at Cambridge University in 1965. In Walking in the dark, he embarks on a journey to unravel his life-long fascination and to understand why Baldwin continues to enthral us decades after his death. Tracing Baldwin's footsteps in France, the US and Switzerland, and digging into archives, Field paints an intimate portrait of the writer's life and influence. At the same time, he offers a poignant account of coming to terms with his father's Alzheimer's disease. Interweaving Baldwin's writings on family, illness, memory and place, Walking in the dark is an eloquent testament to the enduring power of great literature to illuminate our paths.

        by Vatsal G. Thakkar, M.D. and Christine Adamec; Foreword by Pat Levitt, Ph.D., Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, and Director, The Saban Research Institute; Director, USC Neuroscience Graduate Program

        Depression and bipolar disorder are part of a group of mental illnesses called mood disorders. People with these conditions may experience unusual and extremely low or elevated moods as well as unpredictable mood swings. These disorders can also affect one's physical well-being. For many years people who suffered from mood disorders such as depression or bipolar disorder were stigmatized for their problems. Most doctors and medical scientists now believe that these illnesses are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain and can be treated with medication and talk therapy. Depression and Bipolar Disorder, Second Edition provides the basic facts needed to understand the different types of depression and related disorders and what defines them, including the typical symptoms, possible causes, and current treatments.

        Kaspar Hauser’s Brothers and Sisters. In search of the wild man

        by P. J. Blumenthal

        What makes human beings human? Is it a life in society that makes us what we are? We often hear stories of persons who have survived in the wild without social contact or who were supposedly raised by wild animals. Kaspar Hauser is probably the most well-known example, but certainly not the only one. P. J. Blumenthal has taken up the hunt for the “wild man” Homo ferus on the boundary between man and animal.

        Lancastrian Shakespeare

        by Richard Dutton, Alison Findlay, Richard Wilson

        This important collection of essays focuses on the place of Roman Catholicism in early modern England, bringing new perspectives to bear on whether Shakespeare himself was Catholic. In the Introduction, Richard Wilson reviews the history of the debate over Shakespeare's religion, while Arthur Marotti and Peter Milward offer current perspectives on the subject. Eamon Duffy offers a historian's view of the nature of Elizabethan Catholicism, complemented by Frank Brownlow's study of Elizabeth's most brutal enforcer of religious policy, Richard Topcliffe. Two key Catholic controversialists are addressed by Donna Hamilton (Richard Vestegan) and Jean-Christophe Mayer (Robert Parsons). Robert Miola opens up the neglected field of Jesuit drama in the period, whilst Sonia Fielitz specifically proposes a new, Jesuit source-text for Timon of Athens. Carol Enos (As You Like It), Margaret Jones-Davies (Cymbeline), Gerard Kilroy (Hamlet) and Randall Martin (Henry VI 3) read individual plays in the light of these questions, while Gary Taylor's essay fittingly investigates the possible influence of religious conflicts on the publication of the Shakespeare First Folio. Theatre and religion: Lancastrian Shakespeare as a whole represents a major intervention in this fiercely contested current debate. ;
