        Demokratie?

        Eine Debatte

        by Giorgio Agamben, Alain Badiou, Slavoj Žižek, Jacques Rancière, Jean-Luc Nancy, Wendy Brown, Daniel Bensaïd, Kristin Ross

        Encountering The Book of Margery Kempe

        by Laura Kalas, Laura Varnam, David Matthews, Anke Bernau, James Paz

        This innovative critical volume brings the study of Margery Kempe into the twenty-first century. Structured around four categories of 'encounter' - textual, internal, external and performative - the volume offers a capacious exploration of The Book of Margery Kempe, characterised by multiple complementary and dissonant approaches. It employs a multiplicity of scholarly and critical lenses, including the intertextual history of medieval women's literary culture, medical humanities, history of science, digital humanities, literary criticism, oral history, the global Middle Ages, archival research and creative re-imagining. Revealing several new discoveries about Margery Kempe and her Book in its global contexts, and offering multiple ways of reading the Book in the modern world, it will be an essential companion for years to come.

        Mein entblößtes Herz

        Tagebücher. Übertragung und Nachwort von Friedhelm Kemp

        by Charles Baudelaire, Friedhelm Kemp, Friedhelm Kemp

        Charles-Pierre Baudelaire wurde am 9. April 1821 in Paris geboren. Baudelaire litt sehr unter seinem strengen und autoritären Stiefvater und verlebte eine unglückliche und unstete Kindheit, die in ein ebenso unstetes Erwachsenenleben mündete. Sein Jurastudium brach er ab und bewegte sich fortan als Lebemann in Künstler- und Literatenkreisen der Pariser Bohéme. Dort machte er sich bald als Kunstkritiker und provokanter Dichter einen Namen. Durch seinen ausschweifenden Lebensstil verpraßte er schnell das Erbe seines Vaters und wurde von seiner Mutter entmündigt. Daraufhin mußte er sich bis zu seinem Tod vor seinen Gläubigern in den Pariser Elendsvierteln versteckt halten. 1857 erschien sein bekanntestes Werk Die Blumen des Bösen, das wegen des provokanten Inhalts einen Skandal entfachte. Sowohl er als auch sein Verleger wurden zu Geldstrafen verurteilt. Er starb am 31. August 1867 in Paris.

        Transforming folk

        Innovation and tradition in English folk-rock music

        by Rob Burns

        English folk-rock, a former progressive rock music style, remains a stimulus for further change in folk music and has enabled English folk-rock to become regarded as popular music by a new audience with diverse musical tastes. From musicological and historical perspectives, this book maintains that folk music performance continues to be influenced by rock and other popular music styles. From a cultural studies perspective, this book also demonstrates how the popularity of folk music presented at world music festivals has stimulated significant growth in folk music audiences since the mid-1990s and consequently the UK is experiencing a new phase of revivalism - the third folk revival. The book contains contributions from Martin Carthy (The Imagined Village), Simon Nicol (Fairport Convention), Ashley Hutchings (The Albion Band), Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention) and Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span). ;
