Ukraine from above (in English)
by Bogdan Logvynenko (idea), Volodymyr Gavrysh (design)
Over several years of expeditions, the Ukraїner team took thousands of photos of Ukraine from a drone. Many different screens have already seen our footage: from Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) to city buses in Warsaw. With the help of these images, we aim to share the beauty of Ukraine with the world. This photo book shows Ukraine from a bird's eye view. Fields, forests, coasts, snow-capped mountains, patterns of city streets – all these shots show amazing diversity and cause aesthetic awe. Despite the fact that enemy shells are still flying in the Ukrainian sky, we are already trying to make the whole world fall in love with it. The book is published only in English and is called “Ukraine from above”.

Tempting Fate, Hardening the Will: Ukraine and Ukrainians in the XX - Early XXI Century. In Three Books
by Larysa Yakubova (project coordinator)
The transformation of a mental Ukraine into a real Ukraine, people - into a nation, a territory – into a state is a semantic axis of this trilogy. Book 1. Ukraine and Ukrainians in 1917-1939 The first book is devoted to the interwar period – a key stage of ethnic modernization and mobilization of Ukrainians, the culmination of the Ukrainian Revolution, and the battle for Ukraine in the context of the First World War. Book 2. Between World War II and the Cold War: Wars in the Destiny of Ukraine The second book tells about Ukrainians in the Second World War, after which the Ukrainian lands were united within one state, and in the Cold War, which made possible the sovereignty of Ukraine. Book 3. 30 Years of Independence: Challenges, Trials, Answers The third book is dedicated to the period of Ukrainian Independence and summarizes the thirty years of Ukrainian post-totalitarian transit. Contradictions of internal development, geopolitical challenges, three modern Ukrainian revolutions, and the Russian-Ukrainian war are the focus of understanding the path of Ukraine and Ukrainians in the global world.

'The industrialized designer'
Gender, identity and professionalization in Britain and the United States, 1930-80
by Leah Armstrong
What does it mean to be called an industrial designer? This book traces the remarkable rise of this professional identity in historical perspective from a position of anonymity in the early twentieth century, to mid-century professionalisation, to decline and disintegration by 1980. Drawing on new, extensive, original archival research, it uncovers the history of a profession in a state of re-invention, 1930-1980 in Britain and the United States. The book tests assumptions about the relationship between the professions in the two countries, bringing them into comparative historical perspective for the first time. The gendered dynamics of professionalisation and their interaction with the representation of the heroic male designer are interrogated and critically examined. Building on new gender perspectives to the history of the industrial design profession, the book calls for a re-examination of the limits and boundaries of what constitutes professional identity and work.

The Complete Collection of Modern Chinese Prints by Lu Xun
by Editorial Board of the Complete Works of Modern Chinese Prints Collected by Lu Xun
This series contains about 1,800 modern prints collected by Lu Xun at that time, which authored by nearly 200 domestic printmakers and currently in the Lu Xun Memorial Hall in Shanghai and the Lu Xun Museum in Beijing. It is showcasing the glorious history of modern Chinese woodcut art: In the 1920s and 1930s, in order to guide the artistic direction of Chinese literary youth, smashed the KMT’s counter-revolutionary cultural " encirclement and suppression", Mr. Lu Xun held a "woodcut workshop" in Shanghai, and cultivated a group of emerging woodcut backbone. These backbones led young artists in various regions of the country to create a large number of realistic works reflecting the suffering and tragic fate of the people at the bottom of the society at that time. They cruelly lashed the dark reality of society and called for national salvation and survival. These young woodcutters sent their woodcut works to Lu Xun, who not only guided their creation personally, but also spared no effort to collect, publicize and promote them to the public. With the active advocacy and support of Mr. Lu Xun, the emerging woodcut movement in China has developed vigorously, driving the modernization of Chinese art and leaving an indelible glorious footprint in the history of Chinese modern culture and art. This complete collection is a companion to the The Complete Collection of Foreign Prints by Lu Xun published in 2014.

The invention of Spain
Cultural relations between Britain and Spain, 1770–1870 (NEW SUBTITLE)
by David Howarth
This book considers the close but sometimes contested relationship between Britain and Iberia in the period c.1770-1870. It begins by considering how British Enlightenment writers came to terms with the decline of Spain as a political and economic force following the Seven Years War. It then considers the great debates in Britain about Catholic emancipation, franchise reform, how the British historically understood themselves, issues of intervention or non-intervention in Europe, the emergence of history writing as a popular form of reading, an academic discipline and an extension of national identity. The discovery of Spanish art and the emergence of a debate in Victorian architecture about the use of the vernacular and craft techniques are also discussed, and consequently the book makes a significant addition to our understanding of Victorian taste and aesthetics. Spain was therefore something of a mirror in which the British saw themselves both reflected and perhaps distorted, and so we learn as much about the British as about the Spanish. A broad cultural history which is multi-disciplined in its approach and appeal, it will become essential reading for senior level undergraduates and postgraduates in Hispanic Studies departments. ;

Signs of China
by Project group of Picture
Nearly fifty symbols of traditional Chinese culture with strong symbolism, high recognition and extensive influence are selected in this book, whose connotation covers the fields like architecture, collection, dress and personal adornment, military affairs, health preservance and folk arts. The symbols are of special postion and meaning in the history of traditional Chinese culture since they are stereo, multidimensional, and full of fresh color and life with profound historical origins and cultural significance; therefore they not only bring people a visional impact and enjoyment, but conform with the Chinese aesthetic ideas and cultural complex in their innermost hearts; furthermore created originally by the Chinese ethnic peoples, they have a very deep brand of traditional Chinese aesthetic sentiment and historical memory, meanwhile they make a great effect on the development of culture and arts of mankind. With a view to make the panoramic scan of “traditional Chinese cultural symbols” this time, the compilers intend to display the essence of the culture of Chinese symbols and record the new growth of traditional Chinese culture truthfully through plentiful exqusite pictures in the lively and concise language on the basis of the principle of respecting history and deep exploration.
